9 Figure Salary | How Much is 6, 7, 8 and 9 Figures?

A 9-figure salary job. But what does 9-figures actually mean?

I can’t scroll on social media without entrepreneurs selling me how to make a six figure income guide, posts on how to earn 7 figures, have an 8-figure business and scrolling through 9-figure salary income reports.

When most people hear someone mention a 9 figure salary, they’re trying to understand how much money that actually is. What does 6 figures, 7 figures, 8 figures, and 9 figures actually mean as income when someone says they make that much?

It sounds like you made it in life if you say “I earn X figures

BUT

Why won’t people give actual numbers, and once and for all, let’s see how much is 6,7,8 or 9-figure salary.

Why won’t people give actual numbers and they say “figure”

The answer to this is also the reason why I decided to write this blog post.

I was inspired by watching a video titled “20 People Confront a Billionaire (ft. John Morgan)” and I realized that the topic of money can be sensitive and feel awkward.

If I say how much I earn, are you judging me, comparing, asking me questions you will despise me for if I answer honestly, or planning a Louvre-type heist as we speak?

So the why, honestly, it’s that it just sounds good. “I run a 9-figure business.” It says I am doing well in life and don’t dare ask me about actual numbers.

Or

Those who don’t actually have anything close to a 9 figure salary sitting in their bank account, probably the ones that actually create content about it on social media, trying to make that 9-figure salary by the same content, trying to sell you a course.

But, saying “figures” keeps things vague enough that you are honest while still keeping your privacy, and of course, a little bit of validation because it still makes you sound successful.

What’s meant by a figure and how to count figures?

When people share their figures, they are just talking about digits — simple as 123. If you look at 123, this is three figures — the 1, the 2, and the 3 are just digits that help make up a bigger number (a figure).

So, for example, if someone makes $250,000 a year, they earn a six-figure income, because there are 6 digits before the decimal point.

We are not counting cents here, only big whole numbers.

So if your salary looks something like $9880.48 you are a four figure earner, not six.

How much is 6 figures?

If you see a number in the range of $100,000 to $999,999 that’s 6 figures.

If you are earning a salary above $99,999 you are a 6-figure earner as well as someone earning less than $1000,000 a year. Yes, that’s a BIG range.

Both $120,000 and $900,000 are six figure digits, which means that even if two people are earning six figures, that doesn’t mean they make the same amount of money.

Your six figure paycheck only matters if it’s actually in the range that covers your lifestyle, your needs, and you feel comfortable, if it doesn’t, then six digits is only a fancy sentence in the book of money.

You don’t just walk into these jobs overnight, it takes effort, learning, and a lot of persistence, and just like anything, life will throw challenges, but this is exactly what makes a proud six-figure earner.

Yes, I say proud because for some people at the end of the ladder of their field, this might even be a monthly 6-figure paycheck rather than a yearly one.

I like to keep things here realistic though, earning between 100K and 900K is a yearly goal, but everyone can be the exception, you reading this too, because there are no impossible dreams, just limiting beliefs.
